The Bellydance Evolution Show Casting Competition!
This is an exciting new competition to cast supporting and featured dancers for the local Bellydance Evolution Show.
We will be casting 4-7 local dancers per show location to perform in the Gala Show. Auditionees will learn a “Jillina Choreography” that will be posted on the website. Contestants will then upload a video of themselves performing the choreography, followed by a 2-3 minute routine of their own dance style. Non-local dancers are also welcome to audition, but will be responsible for their own airfare and accommodations.
Sponsorship: If a non-local dancer is cast, they are welcome to have their dance studio sponsor them to help allay travel costs/expenses. Their dance studio will receive a link on the Bellydance Evolution website and a credit in the show program.
Winners must be available for a week of intensive training – 7 hours per day (dates to be announced) as well as during the festival week. In addition to being part of the Gala Show, the local cast will also be invited to attend any of the workshops during the festival week as Bellydance Evolution’s guests.
All submitted audition clips will be posted on the Bellydance Evolution website for international exposure. Viewers will be able to leave comments and vote for the “People’s Choice Award”. Winner’s audition videos will be archived and remain on the Bellydance Evolution website for continued viewing.
The winner of the “People’s Choice Award” will be given a special solo performance in the pre-show. If the “People’s Choice Award” winner is also chosen for the cast, they will get to do both their pre-show solo and the main production. However, winning “People’s Choice” does not guarantee that you will be cast in the main show.
